Your Council Tax band and how it is decided
Bands are set by the Valuation Office Agency, which is part of HM Revenue and Customs. You can use their online banding search to find the banding for your property. Your Council Tax bill also states which band applies to your property.
Properties have been allocated to 1 of 8 bands according to their open market capital value, as of 1 April 1991.
