Giving someone permission to discuss your Council Tax
In some cases, you may want someone else to speak to us about your Council Tax. This could be a family member, a friend, or someone who supports you.
To allow this, you must give us your explicit permission by completing our online form.
We will only discuss your Council Tax account with the person you have chosen. They can ask questions and provide information on your behalf, but they cannot make decisions about your account unless you have specifically given permission for this.
Allowing someone to discuss your Council Tax account is not the same as giving them power of attorney.
Power of attorney
Power of attorney is a legal arrangement that allows someone to make decisions for you about things such as:
- your money and finances
- your home
- your health and welfare
If you want to give someone power of attorney, you must go through a separate legal process. You can find more information on the government website or by speaking to a solicitor.
