What you can compost at home
You need a 50/50 mix of 'green' (nitrogen rich) and 'brown' (carbon rich) materials, for example:
- fruit and vegetable peelings
- tea leaves and coffee grounds
- old flowers
- grass cuttings
- cardboard egg boxes
- small amounts of scrunched up newspaper
- bedding from vegetarian pets (for example, straw, hay or newspaper from a rabbit hutch)
- shredded paper
- garden prunings
