Consultation on football stadium at Sawston (March to May 2013)

Consultation

We undertook a 6-week single issue public consultation from 25 March to 6 May 2013 on a proposal for a football stadium at Sawston. A summary of the comments received has been prepared.

Cambridge City Football Club (FC) consider that their needs are for a stadium with a capacity of 3000 people, with 500 seats, in order to meet Football Association requirements. The stadium would comprise:

  • Home and away stands
  • Associated facilities (including: restaurant, bars, toilets, gym, changing facilities, shop, storage, and offices)
  • Flood lighting
  • Car parking (300 parking spaces), coach and cycle parking

The proposal also includes a separate all-weather training pitch.

The site was put forward to us by the promoters Cambridge City FC relatively late in the Local Plan process, but due to local interest in the issue, we decided to carry out a focused consultation on this single issue.

It should be highlighted that this is not a site option for the Community Stadium for the Cambridge Sub-Region, for which site options were subject to consultation through the January 2013 Issues and Options consultation.
