There are four current consultations:

Consultations run from 9 am Monday 11 February to 5pm on Monday 25 March 2019.

North East Cambridge (Cambridge Northern Fringe) Area Action Plan – Issues and Options Consultation

Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council are jointly preparing a North East Cambridge Area Action Plan (referred to as the Cambridge Northern Fringe Area Action Plan in our Local Development Scheme) that will form part of our overall development plan for the area.

We want your views about opportunities for development of the area west of the new Cambridge North Station, together with Cambridge Science Park. Our plans explore how this area could be transformed into a pedestrian and cycle friendly district, creating the opportunity for thousands of new energy efficient homes and jobs, all supported by new community and leisure facilities, shops, and green spaces.

Our vision: ‘North East Cambridge will be a socially and economically inclusive, thriving, and low-carbon place for innovative living and working; inherently walkable where everything is on your doorstep.’

We are seeking your views on our Issues and Options Report, and there are a variety of ways you can find out more and provide your feedback. The document and further details, including how to make comments, are available on our North East Cambridge AAP – Issues and Options Consultation webpage.

Greater Cambridge Statement of Community Involvement

Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council have jointly drafted a new Statement of Community Involvement (SCI). The SCI describes how the public, businesses, interest groups and individuals can get involved in the creation of local planning policy and the planning application process, aiming at shaping where we live, work and trade.

We are asking for views on this this document, and what you think of our approach to consultation and community involvement. The document and details on how to make comments are available on our Greater Cambridge Statement of Community Involvement webpage.

Greater Cambridge Local Plan – ‘Call for Sites’

The Councils will be starting preparation of a new joint Local Plan in 2019, as set out in the adopted Greater Cambridge Local Development Scheme. As an early stage of plan making, we want to know about potential sites or broad locations for development.

The Government requires Local Planning Authorities to conduct a ‘Call for Sites’ exercise as a key component of the Strategic Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment to inform policies in the new Local Plan for housing, employment and other uses.

Further details, including how to submit a site for consideration, are available on our Greater Cambridge Local Plan – ‘Call for Sites’ webpage.

It is proposed to carry out public consultation on Issues and Options for the new Local Plan in the Autumn 2019.

Cottenham Neighbourhood Plan

Cottenham Parish Council submitted a draft Neighbourhood Plan for Cottenham to SCDC on 15 January 2019, along with supporting documents. SCDC is responsible for all the remaining stages of making the Neighbourhood Plan and the Council has confirmed that the submitted Neighbourhood Plan and its supporting documents comply with all the relevant statutory requirements.

The draft Cottenham Neighbourhood Plan sets out a range of planning policies which cover many issues that are considered important to the local community. This includes policies for conserving the village character; providing more housing; improving the amenities and facilities in the village and encouraging employment.

SCDC is seeking your views on the Neighbourhood Plan before it is considered by an independent examiner, and if successful through examination would proceed towards a referendum. The Neighbourhood Plan and details on how to make comments are available on our Cottenham Neighbourhood Plan webpage.
