Cambridge City Council’s Executive Councillor for Environment, Climate Change and Biodiversity, Cllr Rosy Moore said, “If you’re out and about over the bank holiday weekend, you may see some of our new small electrical recycling bins, which is a step closer to making the more difficult items easier to recycle. Items such as hair dryers, kettles and toasters can now be recycled at various recycling points across the city and district, as well as the household recycling centres.” Find your nearest recycling point.

South Cambridgeshire District Council’s Lead Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Brian Milnes said, “While taking care in the warm weather over the summer, try to be mindful with your recycling as well. Pots, tubs and trays that are put in the blue bin without being rinsed out or wiped clean can reduce the quality of the rest of the materials. Recycling behaviours are changing for the good, and we want to maintain that trend.”

Household bin collections across South Cambridgeshire and Cambridge City are carried out by the Greater Cambridge Shared Waste Service, a partnership between South Cambridgeshire District and Cambridge City Councils. More information about bin collections and waste and recycling services can be found on our website for South Cambridgeshire residents or on the Cambridge City Council website for those living in Cambridge.
