LATEST NEWS: 27 September 2018

On 27 September 2018, the South Cambridgeshire Local Plan was adopted and the Adopted Policies Map was agreed for publication.

Together the South Cambridgeshire Local Plan (September 2018) and Adopted Policies Map (September 2018) replace the Core Strategy DPD (January 2007), Development Control Policies DPD (July 2007), Site Specific Policies DPD (January 2010), Local Plan 2004 'Saved' Policy CNF6, and Adopted Proposals Map (February 2012).

The Council’s website will be fully updated over the coming days to reflect these changes.

What is the Site Specific Policies Development Plan Document (DPD)?

The Site Specific Policies DPD sets out the planning policies for site specific proposals, such as housing, employment and open space allocations.

Preparation of the Sites Specific Policies DPD

We submitted the Site Specific Policies DPD to the Secretary of State in January 2006 and examination hearings to test the 'soundness' were held between November 2007 and May 2008.

Following the examination hearings, the Inspectors announced that they had found a shortfall in the housing capacity of land allocated in the various DPDs submitted in January 2006. That shortfall amounted to about 2,200 homes. The Inspectors asked us to assess additional site options to make up the housing shortfall and to put forward its preferred sites for them to consider. We sought your views in October - December 2008. Additional examination hearings were held in May and July 2009.

In September 2009, the Inspectors issued their Inspectors Report concluding that the Site Specific Policies DPD is 'sound' subject to a number of binding changes being made.

The Site Specific Policies DPD was formally adopted on 28 January 2010.
