Full bus review just the ticket

29 November 2017

A Cambridgeshire and Peterborough full review of bus services has been welcomed by councillors in South Cambridgeshire after a £150,000 study was agreed today (Wednesday 29 November).

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough’s Combined Authority agreed to fund the study into how to improve services for local people at their board meeting, with councillors in South Cambridgeshire praising the scope of the project.

The report agreed by the Combined Authority recommended a study that will provide a menu of options to help deliver better services for local people.

Cllr Tim Wotherspoon, South Cambridgeshire District Council’s Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning and Infrastructure, said: “It's great that the Combined Authority has now agreed a full review of our local buses.

"Bus services was discussed at our recent council meeting and we are keen to play a part in the review as one of a number of key partners.

"The menu of options suggested by the Combined Authority is exactly what we think is needed to make sure that subsidies from all potential sources can best achieve high-quality public transport links for the greatest number of people.

"We are pleased the Mayor is leading on this so Cambridgeshire and Peterborough is looked at together and it is fully coordinated for maximum benefit.”
