Climate and environment fortnight

Commencing on Monday 22 February, the Council is holding a Climate and Environment Fortnight with a series of webinars to help people think about how to live more sustainably, reduce carbon emissions and in turn help tackle climate change. 

Join us for a fortnight of events featuring guest speakers, activities, and information for a variety of audiences within our District.

All are welcome to join any of these free online events.

Events

Greener businesses, Thursday 25 February, from 1pm to 2pm 

This event is aimed at anyone with an interest in making businesses greener and more sustainable for the future while saving money. Find out more about our Greener Businesses event and how to register. 

Sustainable farming in Cambridgeshire, online film premiere and discussion, Friday 26 February, from 9am to 10am

This will be of interest to farmers, rural landowners, policy makers, other expert participants and those interested in practical solutions to climate change and biodiversity loss. Includes a film following five local commercial farmers and how they are adapting their farming practices to help cut carbon and double nature. Greening your older home, tips and inspiration, Tuesday 2 March, from 1pm to 2pm

If you have an older home or listed property and are interested in what green improvements you could make, please join us at the above time on Zoom. Meeting ID: 872 3228 0094. Passcode: 441253. This event will be recorded and made available on the Council’s YouTube channel for those who can’t attend. 

Shrinking your carbon footprint, Wednesday 3 March, from 7.30pm to 8.30pm

Are you interested in reducing your environmental impact and living more sustainably but not sure where to begin? You aren’t alone.  Join us for a talk and discussion to find out more about carbon footprints, shrinking our carbon emissions and living more sustainably. By the end of the event we hope you will feel ready to calculate your own carbon footprint using the Carbon Footprint Calculator and ready to start taking practical steps to a more sustainable lifestyle. Food for our Future workshop, Thursday 4 March, from 7.30pm to 8.30pm

We throw away 4.5 million tonnes of edible food each year from our homes. With 30% of Global Greenhouse gasses coming from food production, food waste is feeding climate change. Food for our Future - whose responsibility is food waste? is a 1 hour workshop from Cambridge Sustainable Food. Join us online for a talk and discussion as well as a showcase of some of their recent Food for our Future campaign activities. Get your ticket.

School Streets - a greener way to travel, Friday 5 March, from 12pm to 12.45pm     

This is the last in our series of events. Camcycle will be talking about their exciting project to support and encourage safer environments around schools to enable more people to walk and cycle while also helping to reduce carbon emissions. Please book your place here.
