Personal searches

We have a statutory duty to make the Local Land Charges Register available in order to facilitate Personal Searches.

We also have a duty to provide access to all property information it may hold, to enable a third party to answer CON29 enquiries ('Enquiries of a Local Authority').

With effect from Monday 1st October 2018, we will only be taking email bookings for Personal Searches.

The procedure will be as follows:

To request a personal search of the Local Land Charges Register, email land.charges@scambs.gov.uk

Please give
at least 2 working days notice in advance of your preferred appointment and provide the following information:

  • Date of appointment
  • Booking slots remain the same 10am and 11am or 2pm
  • The full postal address to be searched
  • Site plan clearly showing the boundary marked in red
  • The name of the person or company carrying out the personal search

You can submit up to 6 addresses for any appointment (one appointment per company per day) with a separate site plan for each address.

We will email you back to confirm the booking. If for any reason you can't make an appointment please email to rearrange as soon as possible.

Booking slots available

Monday to Thursday - 10.00 am, 11.00am and 2.00pm - by appointment only
Friday - 10.00 am and 11.00 am - by appointment only.

Whilst we appreciate that delays may occur, we would be grateful if you could adhere to your appointment slot.

Our CON29 Search Guide will tell you where information is held and how to request access

Please note:
That all registrations prior to the 1st January 2010 are held in manual registers.

All registrations made with effect from the 1st January 2010 are held in electronic format.

Only the Land Charges staff are able to access them and will advise you if any apply to the property/piece of land that you are searching against.

Any queries regarding the content of a Personal Search will be directed back to the Personal Search Agency or person who carried out the search.
