Salary Grade 5: £30,737- £35,747 per annum.
Working hours are 37 per week on a shift rotation, with the working day beginning between 5.00am - 8am and covering on average 8 catch up Saturdays which follow bank holidays.
We are recruiting a Team Manager to join a team of three Team Managers to jointly take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the service reporting to the Principal Operations Manager, ensuring that operations are carried out safely, efficiently and effectively. The team is responsible for delivering a range of waste and recycling collections as well as covering street cleansing on occasions, ensuring a high standard of customer care and value for money are achieved.
Working as part of the operational team within the Greater Cambridge Shared Waste Service (a strategic partnership between Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council), you will provide a comprehensive waste collection service for over 125,000 households. You will help manage 150 drivers and operatives to deliver professional and efficient, high quality domestic and trade collection services across the whole area in South Cambridgeshire.
As a team manager you would handling enquiries from various stakeholders and have direct line management responsibilities of a blue-collar workforce. You will be a person who can demonstrate effective communication skills across all levels, positively embrace change, technologies and continually looks at developing services while putting customer service and response as a priority. You will need to be resilient to the pressures of a frontline service role, pro-active and a problem solver. You will be assertive, flexible, approachable and able to motivate your team to continuously improve.
You will keep and maintain impeccable work records, which may be subject to scrutiny at any time. A key element of this position is to establish responsibilities, objectives, accountabilities and measures, by agreement and delegation to your team. You will be actively involved in shaping service development.
