Do you have a passion and drive to help people, make communities safer and bring about positive long-lasting change?

This post is hosted within the newly formed Communications and Communities Team at South Cambridgeshire District Council.  The role will give you the chance to deliver community action and engagement activities alongside partners from a range of agencies from the Community Safety Partnership, including Cambridgeshire Police, Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service and Cambridgeshire County Council.  You will work with residents and Community Groups from South Cambridgeshire and with elected members.

The post holder will promote and help develop community safety and resilience in the District, prioritising activities based on data and feedback from partners and the public. Experience will be required of developing, coordinating and delivering projects and activities, working with the voluntary and community sector, seeking external funding, building relationships and community engagement.  An understanding of crime and anti-social behaviour and associated issues would be of benefit.

As a Project Officer, you must be proactive and enthusiastic with excellent communication skills. You’ll be able to motivate and inspire others, as well as effectively prioritise your workload.

Specifically, you will:

- Plan and deliver community safety action days and engagement events

- Be the single point of contact for communities undertaking action days and related community engagement work

- Inspire residents to take action themselves, thereby developing community resilience

- Recruit, support and enable volunteers from the community (and organise relevant training)

- Support community-led activity in conjunction with other colleagues at the Council and partner agencies

- Act as a link between local leaders, partners and community action groups

- Report on activity and outcomes to partners and funders

The role offers flexibility in the hours worked but some evening and weekend work will be required.
