At South Cambridgeshire District Council we are recruiting for Refuse Drivers to join our team to deliver high-quality and environmentally-sustainable services.
As an LGV driver you will be responsible for your refuse collection crew and vehicle, this would require you to have a Full and Clean Driving Licence (Class 2) and a Driver CPC certificate.
The role will include undertaking daily vehicle checks, safely driving a predetermined route, supervising the crew and tipping off at the designated disposal point as well as using our in-cab system (accessed via a tablet) to report issues. You will be expected to work as a loader on occasion to support the timely delivery of the service.
To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate a flexible, professional and friendly attitude, whilst ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with the relevant guidelines to achieve customer satisfaction and the safety of the crew.
The working pattern is Monday – Friday with catch up Saturdays following a bank holiday (approx. 8 Saturdays a year paid at 1.5 the hourly rate). Contracted hours are 37 hours per week, worked between 5:30am and 3pm (start and finish times are subject to change depending on route allocation – operating on a task to finish basis).
As one of our employees you will be offered up to 29 days annual leave per year.
We guaranteed early start, early finish and typically work from 06:00 am to 14:00 pm with optional overtime.

We offer a career grade average pension scheme (LGPS) Example: £2143.83 monthly earnings, you would contribute 6.8% = £145.78 and the council will contribute 17% = £364.45 Total of £510.23 into your pension.
