We are looking to recruit an individual to join our busy Revenues and Benefits section in a generic role to support a number of functions across the department.

As a member of the team, your role may include awarding and maintaining Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support, maintaining Council Tax liability as well as the recovery of rent and Housing Benefit overpayments. Due to the diverse nature of these roles you must be flexible and able to organise your own workload to sure that both the teams and personal targets are met whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy. You will be given on the job training to enable you to succeed in this challenging role.

As a people person, you will need to easily establish a rapport with customers and team members and be able to demonstrate the ability to adapt your style for different people and circumstances. As you will be dealing with customers mainly over the telephone, you should have a confident assertive telephone manner but also the ability to empathise with our customers. You will also have the ability to remain calm and professional in difficult circumstances.

You will have a high level of computer literacy as the service is delivered using a number of ICT systems.

We are responsible for collecting Council Tax on approximately 66,000 properties within the district and delivering benefit to around 6800 residents; you will be forward thinking and confident to contribute and identify opportunities to help us improve the way we deliver our services.
