Summary

Do you want to help make a difference within South Cambridgeshire? There is a significant lack of affordable homes within South Cambridgeshire so we are looking for an Empty Homes (Regulatory) Officer to help bring unoccupied homes back into use, increasing the supply of housing that is available for our residents.

This full-time position (37 hours per week), for 2 years requires the successful applicant to utilise their investigative skills to identify empty homes within the district and find suitable solutions to help get the properties back into use.

We are looking for someone eager to roll up their sleeves and make things happen. It would be ideal if you have experience working within Environmental Health or Housing. Experience of carrying out complex investigations and undertaking regulatory enforcement action would also be advantageous. Effective and varied communication skills are essential for this role including the ability to negotiate in complex and difficult scenarios whilst organising/prioritising work to meet deadlines. The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships within internal and external stakeholders also be crucial in achieving positive outcomes.

The successful candidate will investigate empty homes and problem properties, undertake residential and business site visits and will be required to assist our Environmental Health Team with other housing related activities.

The post holder must be able to work flexibly and use their initiative when working jointly with both internal and external stakeholders, working on evenings and weekends occasionally.
