Democratic Services Officer
Full time, 37 hours per week
Salary Grade 4, £23,948 - £28,612 p.a
We are currently recruiting for a Democratic Service Officer to join out team.
This role offers the chance to work right at the centre of the District Council, supporting elected Councillors in delivering the Council’s corporate objectives whilst developing your written and organisational skills in the process.
This is a challenging and varied post. You will provide administrative and procedural support to a variety of the District Council’s committees, sub-committees and other groups. This will involve attending meetings and panels (including in the evening) and preparing agendas, reports, decision notices and minutes. Public speaking and managing public attendance at meetings is also required and it is expected that you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of the authority’s Councillor Development Programme. Your workload is likely to vary according to the needs of the team, so plenty of flexibility and adaptability will be necessary.
We need a team player with a positive attitude and a high level of IT competency and literacy, as well as strong organisational and communication skills. The ability to manage a diverse workload to strict deadlines, work to agreed procedures and to translate complex information into clear, concise minutes is vital. You will also need sound judgement, political sensitivity and a creative, innovative approach to the job.

Closing date for applications: 25th January 2019, 09:00
