This is a fantastic opportunity to work within an innovative team in our vibrant and busy Business Operations team in the Greater Cambridge Shared Planning Service. This is an exciting time to join a team that is vital to the smooth and successful operation of the service.
Working for the Greater Cambridge Shared Planning Service offers a unique opportunity to help plan for the future of the beautiful historic City of Cambridge and its surrounding rural area, which together are home to world renowned universities, hospitals and cutting-edge science. Our combined growth agenda includes a range of new settlements within South Cambridgeshire and urban extensions to Cambridge. For instance, existing exciting new strategic development projects include Waterbeach new town (11,000 homes), Northstowe (10,000 homes) and urban extension developments such as Eddington (3,000 homes) and meeting the planning needs of Europe’s most important biotechnology cluster.
This development is underpinned by the Greater Cambridge Local Plan. This plan is currently being updated and the successful candidate will be heavily involved in all aspects of publicity, engagement activity and communications that are needed to help make this work a success.
We are one of the first local authorities progressing a digital first local plan and are building capacity and skill in this area. In addition, we are actively working in the #proptech area and have recently gained funding for a digital consultation pilot with DLUHC.
We are looking for an exceptional Communications and Engagement lead with the relevant qualifications, experience and the drive to embrace the exciting challenges of this busy Shared Planning Service. You need to have superb communication and writing skills and be able to come up with engaging and innovative ideas for content across multiple platforms – with a real focus on our digital audience. With the support of two communications officers, you will lead on all aspects of internal and external communications and engagement for the service. In addition to leading on the development and maintenance of a service-wide communications and engagement strategy, you will provide tactical communication planning and hands-on advice, support and products for a range of channels to support the work of the service.
We understand how important it is to find a job where you feel valued and have the flexibility to achieve a good work/life balance. With that in mind, we’re adopting a hybrid, flexible approach, based on our new Business Operations Team Charter. We work in the best place for the job rather than having hard and fast rules about being in the office five days a week giving true flexibility to work from home and one of our offices as required.
There are many more benefits to working for the us too, not least our structured pay scales, secure, generous pension and flexible hours.
Closing date: 9am on 4 July 2022
Interview date: Week commencing 18 July 2022
