What is designing places or urban design?
Designing places, also known as urban design is the process of shaping our built environment. It is the art of making places, designing places. It involves the design of buildings, groups of buildings, spaces and landscapes and establishing the processes that make successful development possible.
Good urban design brings many benefits – economic, environmental and social – including public health benefits. The Government’s National Planning Policy Framework states that good design ‘is indivisible from good planning’.
Urban Design is an important component of our Consultancy Team. This multi-disciplinary team comprises experienced officers in the following fields:
