Skin Piercing Registration

Special Treatment Businesses (i.e. Acupuncture, Ear-Piercing, Body Piercing, Electrolysis and Tattooing) are required to be registered with the Council. The registration applies to an individual to operate within the South Cambridgeshire District Council area and lasts for as long as they operate within the district.

All premises must be inspected by an authorised officer prior to the grant of any registration.


There is a one-off registration fee of £130.00.

 Sex Establishment

Application for a sex shop and cinema licence under Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982

To run a sex shop (i.e. any premises selling sex toys, books or videos) you will need a licence from the local authority. To run a venue where explicit films are shown to members of the public, you also need a licence from the local authority under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982.

South Cambridgeshire District Council adopted the above Act on 10th August 2006.

South Cambridgeshire has adopted conditions of licensing.

 Caravan Site (Mobile Homes Act 2013)

When and only when a caravan site has planning permission is a licence required.

Licences are required for the operation of Camp Sites, Holiday Caravan Sites, Residential Caravan Sites and Touring Caravan Sites and are put in place to ensure that the site conforms to guidance on for example fire safety, fitness of units, spacing of units and number of caravans.

How long does the licence last?

Providing the site has planning permission the licence does not normally need to be renewed.

iii) Licence fee application (10 units or more) - £260.00
iv) Annual fee (0-2 units) - £20.00

What happens next

After carefully reading the guidance notes, completing and returning your application form the Licensing department will consider the conditions and will post a notice advising of these at the Caravan site.
