Tenant Participation Group (TPG)
The Tenant Participation Group (TPG) is a friendly group of 15 elected members who are the voice
The TPG is responsible for monitoring and developing tenant participation and getting more involved in the decisions, contributing to new SCDC Strategies and Policies.
Elections for TPG members are held every five years.
There is a running agenda item and usually a representative from SCDC will be there to assist in any queries.

Sheltered Housing Forum
The Sheltered Housing Forum is a group of sheltered housing tenants and leaseholders that meet to discuss all things related to Sheltered Housing.
- the way communal rooms are run
- issues with service charges
- adaptations etc.
This forum is specifically designed to hear the thoughts and opinions of our Sheltered Housing Tenants, and to gain their input in our services.

The Leaseholder Forum is for leaseholders (including equity share tenants) to meet with SCDC staff to discuss issues directly related to them.
Members of staff from housing, finance, benefits etc. attend to answer any questions.
- Promote membership to all people who are eligible to join the group
- represent the majority view of leaseholders
- contribute to the improvement of the housing service
- identify and prioritise local housing and environmental issues
- promote equal opportunities within the community
- provide regular information to all members.
Members of the Leaseholder Forum can elect one member onto TPG to represent their views.
All meetings are held at Council Chamber, South Cambs Offices, Cambourne, CB23 6EA from 10:00am - 12:00pm

Tenant and Residents groups
We have a number of tenants and residents groups along with sheltered schemes already established in some of our villages.
Practical advice and funding can be provided to help set up new groups.
Please speak to a member of our resident involvement team if you are interested in setting one up in your area.
By working together, these groups can often take forward local projects for the benefit of all residents living in the community.
Scrutinise your service
The Scrutiny Review Team (SRT) is very 'hands on' and will look more in depth at services that we provide to our tenants and leaseholders.
Our Scrutiny Review Team (SRT) have been working extremely hard to improve the services we provide.
Depending on the service being reviewed, this could involve;
- Several meetings
- work shadowing, and
- analysing policies and procedures over a period of several weeks.
Tenant & Leaseholder News
The Tenant & Leaseholder News is produced twice a year and aims to provide information about your housing service, useful advice and interesting articles.
Alongside this it offers competitions and prizes suited to all the family.
It is produced by staff at South Cambridgeshire District Council, working with the Tenant Participation Group Editorial Panel.
To keep costs to a minimum it is designed in-house by the Council’s design team and printed at very competitive rates.
We are always looking for contributions from all our tenants and leaseholders and welcome any comments regarding the magazine. if you have any comments, or would like to submit an article for the magazine, please email email@example.com
Tenant Approved Group
We are pleased to announce that we are launching a ‘Tenant Approved Group’, in which members will be invited to provide their comments on draft policies, leaflets and other documents that are produced by the housing department within the Council.
The group will be mainly based online, seeing documents sent by e-mail from time to time and inviting opinions and comments upon various subjects.
This provides residents with an opportunity to help shape the service and positively contribute to our policies and procedures.
As the group operates via e-mail, it means that those that can’t always attend other meetings because of work or other commitments still get the opportunity get involved.
Members will be given a date in which to respond by. If they have any suggestions and they can fit this in around their schedule.
Once comments have been received and considered we would look to publish each document with a Tenant Approved logo on it to show that it has been through consultation with the group.

Would you like to have your say but struggle to find the time?
We would like more of our tenants and leaseholders to get involved and help shape the housing service.
We understand that having the free time to have your say can be difficult.
So with that in mind, the housing department now has a Facebook group; South Cambridgeshire Housing.
The group will be used for the South Cambridgeshire District Council Housing Department to share information, advice and news with SCDC Tenants, Leaseholders and people on the housing waiting list. You will also be able to have your say on a range of subjects.
This group will usually be monitored weekdays between 9:00am and 5:00pm.
Please be aware that any communication posted to the group outside of these times may not be seen or responded to.
We are looking for tenant volunteers to become 'Digital Champions'.
Digital Champions will be asked to help other tenants and leaseholders of SCDC, to learn basic computer skills.
We will provide training via Digital Unite’s Digital Champion Programme.
Training is free and can be completed in your own time from the comfort of your own home, providing you have access to a device that can get online!
If you think you would be a good fit as a Digital Champion, and have the time and willingness to spare to help others, please contact the Resident Involvement team for an application and info pack.
Our annual gardening competition is a great way to showcase your gardening talents, as well as meeting like-minded, green fingered people.
Weve been running the gardening competition since 1981 and have continuously had a great reception with it.
There are many different categories to enter and winners receive a trophy and a certificate.
The information and categories are published in the Spring/Summer edition of the T&L news, as well as our website. Judging usually takes place during the summer. If you are proud of your garden, and would like to showcase it, then you should enter!
You will need to spend around an hour showing our judges around your garden, and the award ceremony is around 2/3 hours long.
How we can help you to help us
To assist you where you might need it, to enable you to get involved, we will:
- Pay for travel costs to attend meetings, including organising taxi’s to and from meetings if you are not a car driver and using public transport would not be possible
- pay for reasonable and unavoidable childcare costs
- pay Resident Group set up costs and contribute towards reasonable running costs via a small annual subsidy
- provide Training opportunities - to grow your skills and confidence in making your views known
- guidance/assistance on newsletter production
- funding advice
