Flying the flag for Armed Forces Day
A flag was raised at South Cambridgeshire Hall in Cambourne to recognise Armed Forces Day.
South Cambridgeshire District Council Chairman Cllr David McCraith raised the flag with members of staff in the annual ceremony to recognise the contribution made by the armed forces past and present.
Armed Forces Day helps raise public awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve and have served in Her Majesty's Armed Forces, and show support for members of the Armed Forces community – from serving troops to veterans, reservists and cadets and their families.
Armed Forces Day itself is on Saturday 24 June but local authorities and other public bodies are invited to raise the flag at their buildings on the previous Monday.
Cllr McCraith said: “The respect and appreciation shown by people and communities go a long way to sustaining the morale of the armed forces family in our area, which includes regulars, reserves, veterans and cadets.
“We are proud to be flying this flag in order to send a message of support for all the armed forces who help keep us secure and risk their lives to uphold our way of life.”
