How do I spot them?
Due to their nocturnal nature, bats will rarely be seen outdoors during daylight. At night bats are recognisable because of their flight movements. Unlike birds they flap their spread-out digits rather than just their forearms.
How do they live?
Naturally they are found in large woodland areas and caves but they also sometimes take residence in deserted buildings with high ceilings such as barns.
How do they affect me?
Bats are frightened of humans and pose no real threat.
How do I control them?
Bats are protected species and the environment in which they are found should not be disturbed.
