South Cambridgeshire Dementia Action Alliance

The South Cambridgeshire Dementia Action Alliance was launched at its first meeting on 2nd March 2017.

The Alliance brings together businesses and organisations from the public and third sectors who want to work together to make improvements for those with dementia and their carers.

There were a number of speakers from businesses and organisations at the first meeting talking about the actions that they are taking and their involvement in their local DAAs. There were also opportunities for attendees to network and exchange ideas around supporting customers, staff members and local communities affected by dementia.

We are keen to ensure that as many local companies and organisations as possible are aware of the Alliance and take the opportunity to carry out actions that will not only support people with dementia and their carers but also bring benefits to their own operations.

  • If your staff have the skills and knowledge to help a person with dementia feel less stressed they will want to return to your business or organisation and word will spread that you are ‘dementia friendly’.
  • By showing your understanding of your staff’s situation as either a person with dementia or a carer they will be able to perform to their maximum potential for longer. This will help to improve staff retention and underpin your productivity.
