If you believe your property to be at imminent risk of flooding, contact Floodline on 0345 988 1188, (calls are charged at local rate).
Flooding can be a serious problem in Cambridgeshire and we will try to help residents in domestic properties whose houses are either at imminent risk of flooding or have historically been flooded in the past. This help will be in the form of the provision of sand bags to protect doors and airbricks.
We advise all residents and businesses to have a flood plan in place. It's impossible to completely flood-proof your property, but there are steps you can take to reduce the damage flood water may cause: Preparing for floods article from South Cambs Magazine
Depending upon the scale of the flooding around the district, our resources may be seriously stretched and supplies of sand bags may be limited and slow delivery timescales could be experienced. In an emergency situation, this service can be accessed from 8am to 5.30pm (Monday to Friday) by calling us on 03450 450 063.
Outside of office hours you can contact Floodline on 0345 988 1188 for advice. If there is an imminent risk to property or person please contact emergency services.
You should take action to protect your own property as much as possible. This is especially important if you live in an area that has had issues around flooding in the past. Sand bags and other flood protection equipment can be obtained from a variety of companies within the U.K. Here are lists of some companies you may wish to contact for further information:
Flood Sense - email@example.com or 08081 972 753
Multi-flood Solutions - firstname.lastname@example.org or 01584 819233
There is no guarantee that any flood protection system will work and we do not endorse a particular product or supplier.
Further guidance is available on this free to download leaflet, which provides advice on a whole range of issues related to flooding and property protection: Flood Sense Flood Protection Guide
Note: we will endeavour to assist small businesses in cases of emergency subject to available resources at the time.
Think ahead – before it floods. Don’t wait for a disaster to decide what to do.
