Community Energy Grant
A new Grants Advisory Committee is being established by the Council, to review all grant-giving schemes. This is to ensure they are meeting the needs of residents and targeting the groups that are most in need of help. As a result, the Community Energy Grant Scheme will not be accepting new applications after 31 May 2018. All applications received on or before this date will be assessed against the existing scheme criteria below:
The Community Energy Grants scheme is available to voluntary and community sector groups and parish councils to support the delivery of local energy saving and green initiatives.
Grants of up to £3,000 are available for projects such as;
- Installation of energy saving and efficiency measures (e.g. lighting and heating controls, upgrades to LED lighting, roof and cavity wall insulation and energy efficient boilers).
- Installation of electric vehicle charging points for community use.
- Battery storage for solar panels and other low carbon energy generation measures
- Grants can also be awarded to fund energy surveys for community buildings and village halls to allow organisations to investigate which green energy measures would be most suitable for their building
Please note, it is unlikely that the grants will fund energy generation measures (e.g. Solar Panels) due to feed-in-tariff restrictions for projects receiving public grants.
Grant applications can completely or partially cover the costs of a project, equipment or work.
To help identify the most suitable measures for your building it is recommend that you complete this self - survey provided by the Centre for Sustainable Energy before applying for funds.
Please review the guidance notes for eligibility criteria and the types of projects that can be funded before applying.
Grant applications will re-open following the review process.
