A14 Road closures - updated weekly

The below information is supplied by Highways England. You will see the dates, number of nights in brackets, followed by the junctions that are closed and a description of the diversions in place. We hope this helps you to plan your upcoming routes.

Please note that it is sometimes necessary for Highways England to undertake unscheduled closures to undertake emergency repairs.

Full closures 

The below are overnight between 8pm and 6am, unless otherwise stated.

Wednesday 1 July to Friday 3 July (3 nights)

  • A14 westbound between Six Mile Bottom junction 36 and Girton junction 31

Motorway traffic will travel south on the A11, west on the A505 and then north on the M11. Non motorway traffic will diverted on local roads through Cambridge.

8pm Friday 3 July to 6am Monday 6 July (3 nights)

  • B1040 St Ives Road/Potton Road

Vehicles will be diverted via A1198 and A1307 for access in and out of Hilton.

9pm Saturday 4 July to 8am Sunday 5 July (1 night)

  • Brampton Road B1514 between station car park and Edison Bell Way

Vehicles on the Huntingdon town centre side will be diverted onto the ring road, Ermine Street B1044 to Spittals roundabout, A141 west to Brampton / Brampton Racecourse junction and into Brampton via B1514. Vehicles on the Brampton side of the closure will follow this diversion in reverse.

Monday 6 July to Tuesday 7 July (2 nights)

  • Woolley Road
  • A14 westbound Brampton Interchange junction 22 to Ellington junction 20

Vehicles will be diverted onto A1 northbound, A1M and west on A605 to re-join the A14 westbound at Thrapston junction 13.

  • A141 westbound link between Brampton Hut roundabout and New Ellington junction 21

Vehicles will be diverted east on A141 to Spittals, north on A1307 spur and onto A1 northbound, A1M and west on A605 to re-join the A14 westbound at Thrapston junction 13.

  • A14 westbound Swavesey junction 24a exit slip

Vehicles will be signposted to leave the A14 at the A1307/Swavesey exit junction 24b.

Monday 6 July to Friday 10 July (5 nights)

  • A1 northbound Brampton Hut exit slip

Vehicles will be diverted north to Alconbury to then use A1 southbound and either continue or exit for access to Brampton Hut roundabout.

  • A1 northbound Brampton Hut entry slip

Vehicles will be diverted east along A141 and then north at Spittals roundabout to the spur road to re-join the A1 northbound at Alconbury.

  • A141 eastbound link between New Ellington junction 21 and Brampton Hut roundabout

Vehicles will be diverted east on the A605 at junction 13 then south on the A1(M) to the A605 to re-join the A14 at junction 21.

  • A1 southbound to A14 eastbound link Brampton Interchange junction 22

Vehicles will be diverted from A1M to A605 and join the A14 eastbound at Thrapston junction 13.

Tuesday 7 July (1 night)

  • A1 northbound between Buckden and Brampton

Vehicles will be diverted onto A428 east at Wyboston, north on B1040 to A1198, then east on A14 to re-join the A1 northbound at Brampton Interchange.

Wednesday 8 July (1 night)

  • A14 eastbound Ellington junction 20 between exit and entry slips

Vehicles will be diverted ‘up and over’ the junction via the exit and entry slips.

8pm Friday 10 July to 6am Monday 13 July (3 nights)

  • Grafham Road (over the A1)

Vehicles will be diverted to travel between Grafham and Brampton via Buckden roundabout and B1514 Brampton/Buckden Road.

9pm Saturday 11 July to 8am Sunday 12 July (1 night)

  • Brampton Road B1514 between station car park and Edison Bell Way

Vehicles on the Huntingdon town centre side will be diverted onto the ring road, St Peters Road to A141 west to Brampton / Brampton Racecourse junction and into Brampton via B1514. Vehicles on the Brampton side of the closure will follow this diversion in reverse.
