A14 Road closures - updated weekly

The below information is supplied by Highways England. You will see the dates, number of nights in brackets, followed by the junctions that are closed and a description of the diversions in place. We hope this helps you to plan your upcoming routes.

Please note that it is sometimes necessary for Highways England to undertake unscheduled closures to undertake emergency repairs.

Full closures 

The below are overnight between 8pm and 6am, unless otherwise stated

From Friday 10 January at 9pm to Monday 13 January at 5am

  • Woolley Road

  • A141 westbound between Brampton Hut roundabout and New Ellington junction 21

Vehicles will be diverted north via the A1307 spur road from Spittals roundabout, A1M northbound to A605 westbound.

  • A141 eastbound between New Ellington junction 21 and Brampton Hut roundabout

Vehicles will be diverted to continue east on A14 to Godmanchester/A1198 junction 23 and return on westbound carriageway for access to A1.

  • Partial closure of Brampton Hut roundabout

Friday 10 January to Sunday 12 January (3 nights)

  • A14 westbound between Dry Drayton junction 30 and Bar Hill junction 25

Vehicles on the M11 will be diverted west onto A1303 to continue onto A428 westbound, A1198 northbound and either join the A14 at junction 23 for through traffic or continue north to join A1307 for local traffic. The local road between Dry Drayton and Bar Hill will remain open.

From Saturday 11 January at 6am to Monday 13 January at 5am

  • A14 westbound Swavesey/Cambridge Services junction 24a exit slip

Vehicles will be signposted to exit at the next junction, junction 24b.

Saturday 11 January (1 night) from 9pm to 8am

  • Brampton Road B1514 between station car park and Edison Bell Way

Vehicles on the Huntingdon town centre side will be diverted onto the ring road, Ermine Street B1044 to Spittals roundabout, A141 west to Brampton / Brampton Racecourse junction and into Brampton via B1514. Vehicles on the Brampton side of the closure will follow this diversion in reverse.

Monday 13 January to Wednesday 15 January (3 nights)

  • A14 westbound Brampton Interchange junction 22 to New Ellington junction 21

Vehicles will be diverted onto A1 northbound at Brampton Interchange, exit to Brampton Hut roundabout and then west to re-join the A14 westbound.

Monday 13 January to Thursday 16 January (4 nights)

  • Local road between B1050 Hattons Road and Oakington roundabout

Vehicles wishing to exit the A14 westbound for Bar Hill and Longstanton, junction 25 will need to stay on to Swavesey junction 24 and return on the eastbound carriageway.

Vehicles wishing to exit the A14 eastbound for Oakington and Dry Drayton will need to stay on the A14 and exit onto A1307 Huntingdon Road, to return west on the local road, past the Crematorium.

  • A428 eastbound Madingley to A14 eastbound Milton junction 33

Motorway traffic will travel south on the M11, east on A505 and north on A11 to re-join the A14. Non motorway traffic will be diverted on local roads through Cambridge.

  • M11 junction 14 exit slip
  • A14 westbound between Six Mile Bottom junction 36 and Girton junction 31

Motorway traffic will travel south on the A11, west on the A505 and then north on the M11. Non motorway traffic will diverted on local roads through Cambridge.

Tuesday 14 January (1 night)

  • A14 Histon junction 32 northern side of gyratory

Vehicles wishing to travel into Cambridge from Histon will be diverted along Impington Lane, Milton Road, Butt Lane and then south on the A10. Vehicles wishing to travel into Histon from Cambridge will be diverted along Kings Hedges Road, north on the A10, Butt Lane, Milton Road and Impington Lane.

Wednesday 15 January (1 night)

  • A14 westbound Bar Hill junction 25 entry slip

Vehicles will be diverted eastbound on the A14 to exit to A1307 Huntingdon Road and access A14 westbound via A1307 junction 31 entry slip.

Thursday 16 January (1 night)

  • A14 eastbound Swavesey junction 24 exit slip

Vehicles will be diverted east to Bar Hill junction 25 and return on the westbound carriageway.

  • A14 westbound Swavesey/A1307 J24b to Godmanchester/A1198 junction 23

Vehicles will be diverted along A1307 to Godmanchester and then south on A1198 to re-join the A14 westbound at junction 23.

Friday 17 January (1 night)

  • A1307 spur between A1M Alconbury and Spittals roundabout

Vehicles will be diverted south on A1, exit for Brampton Hut roundabout and east on A141.

  • B1050 Hattons Road between Longstanton roundabout and local road

Vehicles wishing to access Longstanton will be diverted along local road to Oakington roundabout and then via Oakington, Cottenham, Rampton and Willingham.

from 9pm, Friday 17 January to 5am, Monday 20 January 

  • A1 northbound Brampton Hut exit slip

Vehicles will be diverted north to Alconbury to then use A1 southbound and either continue or exit for access to Brampton Hut roundabout.

  • A1 northbound Brampton Hut entry slip

Vehicles will be diverted east along A141 and then north at Spittals roundabout to the spur road to re-join the A1 northbound at Alconbury.

  • Woolley Road
  • A14 westbound Milton junction 33 entry slip

Vehicles will be diverted east to exit at Stow cum Quy junction 35 and return on westbound carriageway.

Friday 17 January to Sunday 19 January (3 nights)

  • A14 eastbound Swavesey junction 24 to Bar Hill junction 25

Vehicles will be diverted south on A1198 at junction 23 and east on A428 to re-join the A14.

From 9pm, Saturday 18 January to 8am, Sunday 19 January (1 night)

  • Brampton Road B1514 between station car park and Edison Bell Way

Vehicles on the Huntingdon town centre side will be diverted onto the ring road, Ermine Street B1044 to Spittals roundabout, A141 west to Brampton / Brampton Racecourse junction and into Brampton via B1514. Vehicles on the Brampton side of the closure will follow this diversion in reverse.
