Cambridge Northern Fringe East Area Action Plan (AAP)

What is the Cambridge Northern Fringe East Area Action Plan?

We and Cambridge City Council are considering the future of the Cambridge Northern Fringe East (CNFE) area, which is one of the most important brownfield regeneration opportunities in the Greater Cambridge area.

The Cambridge North railway station opened on 21 May 2017 and provides a catalyst for an exciting opportunity to create a high quality employment led mixed use development.

The Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire Local Plans (submitted in March 2014) both propose the preparation of an Area Action Plan for the CNFE area.

UPDATE: August 2017

The timetable for the preparation of the CNFE Area Action Plan is under review. For information on any change or updates please check the News and Updates page.

Preparation of the Cambridge Northern Fringe East AAP

Preparation of a joint Area Action Plan (AAP) has started and it will be prepared in two main stages:

1. Issues & Options Report: this document set out the main issues for the area and the potential options to address them and was subject to public consultation from 8 December 2014 to 2 February 2015.

The Councils have produced a summary report of the comments submitted and full comments can be viewed using the online consultation system.

The comments submitted to the Issues & Options consultation, revised options for the potential range of development in the CNFE area, and a revised timetable for the preparation of the AAP was considered at the following meetings:

2. Proposed Submission AAP: this document will set out the policies to guide development in the CNFE area, and will be submitted to the Secretary of State for examination.
