Wind turbines

Wind turbines

Large wind turbines are one of the cheapest ways to generate electricity.  Current planning policy in South Cambridgeshire requires that the development site must be in an area identified as suitable for wind energy development in a Neighbourhood Plan.  For guidance on how to identify suitable areas for onshore wind development in your neighbourhood plan, see the Centre for Sustainable Energy for more information.

The Energy Saving Trust and Centre for Sustainable Energy have lots of information regarding wind turbines.

Case Study: Gamlingay Community Wind Turbine

The Gamlingay wind turbine went into operation in June 2013, five years after the project was initiated by a group of local residents.
