We are offering a series of webinars that provide a chance for local businesses to engage with Council services and develop skills to help you run your business successfully.
Mental health
Mental health problems are increasingly affecting people during the Coronavirus restrictions and is among the leading cause of sickness absence in the workplace. Added to the stress of keeping your business going during the current pandemic, there are many reasons people need support; financial insecurity, not seeing family, friends, colleagues or customers. Whatever the size of your business, everyone needs help sometimes. Our guest speaker Nick Elston is hosting a series of webinars to help you cope through difficult times:
Managing big and difficult feelings: Tuesday 13 April, 1pm
How to cope with feelings of guilt, anger, frustration regarding the lack of perceived help and assistance due to the pandemic. Joined by life coach Zoe Thompson, Nick will explore how to manage feelings and emotions, particularly surrounding failure and obligation for those who have had to lay off staff for the first time. Building resilience: Wednesday 5 May, 1pm
Building resilience mechanisms when businesses are on the brink of closure or have had to cease trading can be hard. What does the business owner do to rebuild/start again? How can you manage the low points and possible suicidal thoughts created by business related issues?
Managing diversification and change: Thursday 27 May, 1pm
There are many stresses in having to pivot, diversify and run new operating models quickly. Many businesses have had to move their businesses online or to a delivery only model very quickly. How can you manage and cope being always on, always needing to be agile and learning new skills and ways of thinking?
Coping with financial stress: Tuesday 15 June, 12:30pm
Many business owners are facing having to do more with less as a long-term option. How can you look after your mental health and physical well-being in that stressful situation?
How to tender for Council contracts
Local authorities outsource a number of goods and services, be that building services, catering or IT. How do they decide which supplier to contract, and how can local businesses, especially smaller ones, win bids for these contracts? We are running a series of webinars offering businesses a chance to learn how to successfully tender for Council contracts. Registrations are open for the following dates:
