Recycling Sites by Village
As the new blue bin service now provides additional capacity to collect cans, glass and cartons at the kerbside effectively, we have removed the following banks in order to make space for the introduction of new materials:
- Can banks
- Glass banks
- Carton banks
Your blue bin can be used to easily and conveniently recycle these items on your doorstep and we kindly ask that now banks have been removed glass, cans and cartons are not left at the recycling sites.

Media banks have been introduced to recycling areas and accept the following items:
- Books
- CD's
- DVD's
- Video tapes
- Cassettes
- Games

Small Electrical Items
The Sawston recycling site at Budgens Car Park now accepts small electrical items including:
- Phones
- Remote controls
- VCRs
- Digiboxes
- Kettles
- Hair dryers
- Electric toothbrushes
- Shavers
- Irons
- Small DIY appliances
- Clocks
- Radios
- and much more...
The following items cannot be placed in the small electrical appliance banks but can be recycled at the household waste recycling centres:
- TV Monitors
- Computers
- Large appliances (e.g. cookers, fridges, washing machines)
- Light bulbs
- Batteries
- Anything which cannot be placed in the recycling bank chute
Please note - the small electrical item bank located at the recycling centre at Tesco Bar Hill has been replaced by Tesco's in-store electrical trade in scheme. Items can be handed in at the Electrical and Clothing Desk (1st Floor) at Tesco Bar Hill*:
