Bin collection

South Cambridgeshire District Council's refuse collection scheme consists of three wheeled bins - blue, green and black. These are collected from your doorstep on alternate weeks.

  • The normal collection point is at the kerbside.
  • Bin must be left at edge of the property nearest to the road, or at an agreed collection point, by 7am on the day of collection.
  • The normal collection time is between 7.00 am to 18.30 pm.
  • Bin lids must be firmly closed - even bins with partially open lids can not be collected.
  • All waste to be collected must be inside the green and black bins - side waste will not be collected under any circumstances.
  • Blue bin side waste will be collected if placed alongside the blue in a returnable container.
  • Visit our bin collection day finder pages to find out when your bin will be collected.
  • Missed collections should be reported by 3.30pm on the day following the scheduled collection to Health and Environmental Services.

If the refuse vehicle cannot get to your particular property you will be contacted individually by the Council to advise you of an alternative collection point.

All enquiries and requests for new or replacement bins should be reported as soon as possible to Health and Environmental Services. Alternatively, refuse service requests (This link will open in a new window) can be submitted online.

Follow the links below or in the left hand menu for household waste information.

Blue wheeled bin and inner caddy

The blue bin

All residents should have received a blue wheelie bin replacing the green recycling box. The blue bin is for dry recyclables and includes a specially designed inner caddy to keep paper separate from everything else.
