community access points

Community Access Points (CAPs) are public and community buildings where computers, scanners and printers have been installed for local people to use. There are ten CAPs across South Cambridgeshire and they are listed below.

Just some of the things you can do at your CAP are:

  • send emails
  • surf the web
  • shop online
  • book rail, bus, plane or cinema tickets
  • follow an online training course
  • look at job adverts
  • write a letter or your CV
  • trace your ancestors or long lost friends
  • access information about council and other services
  • produce household accounts
  • scan photos and other documents

You can also learn basic computer skills and supervision and tutor support will be available to help you do this.

How about volunteering?

Cambridgeshire County Council are looking for local people with some IT experience to become volunteers and help teach people how to use a computer or improve their existing skills.

Would you like to help your local community? Do you want to:

  • make a difference in someone's life
  • gain work experience
  • make new friends
  • develop your personal skills
  • enhance your CV

Volunteers will receive guidance on the free training tools available online.
