South Cambridgeshire is alive with inspiration. Visual arts, theatre, dance, music, creative writing, filmmaking and public art all flourish here. Summer months are filled with village feasts, children's activities, open-air music and the English Sinfonia's Sounds of Summer concert series are held in some of our beautiful medieval churches. Over 100 artists open their studios in July and you can see our public art at its best. Winter sees top quality storytelling, dance, theatre and music in village halls and it's also the pantomime season.
The area is also host to many major annual events some attracting visitors from all over the world.
- Duxford Imperial War Museum (This link will open in a new window) has five major airshows with some of the most popular aircraft in history taking to the air in fantastic air displays.
- Wimpole Hall (This link will open in a new window) has a variety of events from lambing weekends, to open-air music concerts, which include jazz and brass, craft fairs and much, much more.
- The Fenland Country Fair (This link will open in a new window) is one of the major shows of its kind in the United Kingdom with archery, field target shooting, terrier and ferret racing, crafts and competitions.
- In Spring Thriplow Village opens its beautiful gardens to the public for their Daffodil Weekend incorporating arts, crafts and music, and sheep dogs, heavy horses and birds of prey displays are to name just a few of the highlights the area has to offer.
- Wysing Arts, Bourn (This link will open in a new window) - a rural arts centre with a focus on innovation and experimentation. There are indoor and outdoor exhibitions with works of national and local artists. Year round programmes include exhibitions, workshops for adults, families and children, artists talks and events.
