Tourism and Leisure in south Cambridgeshire
Why not relax and explore the district of South Cambridgeshire with its historic monuments, houses and museums set in 350 square miles of fantastic walking and cycling countryside, surrounding the university city of Cambridge.
Attractive settlements, ranging from small hamlets to large communities, combining modern architecture with old, sitting pretty in a tranquil and varied rural landscape, from rolling chalk hills covered with beech woods to flat, fertile fenland.
Visit Milton Country Park, approximately 90 acres of parkland, boasting water, grass, scrublands and wooded areas, including a visitor centre and picnic area. The site is owned and managed by South Cambridgeshire District Council.

Whats on
South Cambridgeshire is alive with inspiration. Visual arts, theatre, dance, music, creative writing, film making and public art all flourish here.
- Summer months are filled with village feasts, children's activities, open-air music and the English Sinfonia's Sounds of Summer concert series are held in some of our beautiful medieval churches. Over 100 artists open their studios in July and you can see our public art at its best.
- Winter sees top quality storytelling, dance, theatre and music in village halls, it's the pantomime season and there's the annual Fire Sculpture at Wysing Arts (This link will open in a new window).

- Duxford Imperial War Museum (This link will open in a new window) has five major air shows with some of the most popular aircraft in history taking to the air.
- Wimpole Hall (This link will open in a new window) has a variety of events from lambing weekends, open air music concerts, which include jazz and brass to craft fairs.
- The Fenland Country Fair is one of the major shows of its kind, with archery, field target shooting, terrier and ferret racing, crafts and competitions.
- In Spring Thriplow Village opens its beautiful gardens to the public for their Daffodil Weekend incorporating arts, crafts and music.
- Sheep dogs, heavy horses and birds of prey displays are just a few of the highlights the area has to offer.

How to get to South Cambridgeshire:
The area has good road and rail links - the M11 runs through the south and west and connects with the A1 via the A14 to Huntingdon. The main Kings Lynn, Ely and Cambridge to London railway line runs north/south through the district with stations at Waterbeach, Shelford and Whittlesford. There is also a railway service to London via Royston with stations at Foxton, Shepreth and Meldreth.
