Arts development
South Cambridgeshire is alive with all kinds of arts activity. Visual arts, theatre, music, dance, filmmaking, creative writing and public art all help make the District a special place to live and to visit.
The council aims to increase participation in creative activities, boosting community spirit and contributing to a better quality of life for our residents. The policy of the council is to support arts organisations working in and with the community rather than directly co-ordinating arts provision.

The council currently support:
- Quality arts activity through four local arts development managers, funded in partnership with the district's village colleges. The arts development managers' responsibilities include a number of key district-wide arts initiatives including youth arts awards, youth arts texting service, an arts equipment bank, mobile cinema service, film projects, digital storytelling and rural touring theatre.
- Partnerships with agencies like Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Mental Health Partnership Trust, Orchestras Live and Arts and Business (East) on programmes of arts work that attract external funding for community-based arts activity. The partnership with Gallagher Estates, for example, has resulted in a series of neighbourhood art projects at the new development of Arbury Park in the parish of Impington. Visit the www.sameanddifferent.net (This link will open in a new window) website for more information.
- Arts facilities in new and expanding communities in partnership with the infrastructure partnership Cambridgeshire Horizons.
- Promoting arts events and activities, both amateur and professional, through the Event guide. The printed Event is delivered to all homes in South Cambs four times a year with the South Cambs magazine. Or visit www.thelistlive.org.uk (This link will open in a new window) - an online directory of local arts groups. Visit our online events guide for a list events going on in and around the district.
