What is this?

This is where you can add another person to the tenancy provided that this has not already been done before.

Reasons for the change?

  • Marriage
  • Living with a partner for more than a year.

How do I apply?

You will need to write to housing services enclosing a copy of your marriage certificate or proof of cohabitation for at least the last 12 months. i.e. shared bill, register of electors, council tax.

Essential information to include:

  • Full name of the person to be added to the tenancy
  • Their date of birth

What happens next?

Once the Housing Services team receives your letter, which includes all documentation they will write back to you within 14 days.

No, you must wait until 12 months have expired.

Will I get a new rent card?
Yes, it will be forwarded to you once the housing services team has processed your request.

What if I do not have the 12 months proof of my partner living with me?
Your request can only be granted once the housing services team have documented proof.
