Special Requests for improvements
In some circumstances it is possible for a council tenant to make a special request for certain improvements in order to accommodate their particular circumstances. For example, the installation of a certain kind of heating due to medical reasons.
NOTE: If you require an adaption to aid mobility due to a medical reason, you must contact the Occupational Therapy department to arrange an assessment.
How do I apply?
You must write to housing services with the following important information:
- Your name
- Your address
- Details of the particular request and the reasons why GP's details in case more information is required
What happens next?
The Housing Department will reply within 14 days of receipt of your letter notifying you of the outcome.
If you are not satisfied with the outcome you have the right to appeal within 28 days of the notification.
How long will it be before the works are completed?
If your request is approved, your details will be held on file until sufficient funds become available, whereby the housing services team will contact you with a commencement date.

A No, you will not be expected to pay and your rent will not increase.

A Yes, but you will need to request Landlords permission first.
