Village voices

We are a rural Council covering approximately 350 square miles with 105 villages. We as the landlord own and manage around 5750 properties including 43 sheltered schemes in 95 of these villages.

Owing to this large geographic spread, tenants and leaseholders of the Council often identify with their village or Parish much more than with the Council as a whole. Tenants and leaseholders can therefore feel isolated from the centre and have no discernable link to the Council unless there are significant problems.

We are committed to getting all our communities involved in shaping their housing service. Where there are villages of less than 30 properties or where there is not yet an established tenant and resident's group we encourage a tenant or leaseholder to put themselves forward as the Village Voice.

If you think you would be interested you could become the point of contact with the council for your village - A "village voice."

South Cambridgeshire District Council will provide you with support and advice on how to get started and put you in touch with the network of other village voices.

You can make a difference to your community.
