Leaseholder forum

The Leaseholder Forum was set up to ensure that equity share leaseholders are represented and included in matters relating to the housing service.

It was felt that it is important that the views of our equity share leaseholders are fairly represented. The forum gives the opportunity for leaseholders to get together to discuss issues that are important to them and to share any concerns or queries with each other and with council officers, who are on hand to answer any queries, in a fairly informal, relaxed environment.

The forum aims to keep leaseholders updated with anything happening within the council that may affect them either directly or indirectly.

It is also an opportunity for leaseholders to contribute to the improvement of the service they receive for example by assisting in matters such as service delivery standards. Opinions of our leaseholders are valued and help to shape the service provided. In addition, the forum helps identify local housing and environmental issues, key to improving the amenities in the area where possible.

Common topics at the forum include the service charge, issues around sheltered housing, tenant participation and maintenance issues. When the agenda is set we try to ensure that the appropriate council officers attend to address any questions.

The forum is usually well attended and often provokes lively discussions. The group is managed by a committee, comprising of a Chair, Vice Chair and 2 other members, and is supported by council officers.
