Northstowe and other Strategic Growth Sites

Affordable homes will be a key part of South Cambridgeshire's new major developments at Northstowe, the Cambridge Southern Fringe and North West Cambridge. (For further information on the major sites - visit the new developments page on the planning site)

SCDC is pleased that Cambridgeshire Partnerships Ltd (CPL) has been announced as the organisation that will deliver affordable housing at the three sites. CPL was chosen through a selection process called the Cambridge Challenge, designed to bring affordable housing to the forefront of the design and development of the new communities.

Cambridgeshire Partnerships Ltd (CPL) is made up of five housing associations already working in South Cambridgeshire and Cambridge City - Bedfordshire Pilgrims Housing Association, Aldwyck Housing Association, King Street Housing Society, The Papworth Trust and Hundred Houses Society.

CPL was selected as being the organisation best placed to contribute to well-designed communities with high-quality homes. CPL will now take part in laying the foundation to build communities, not just houses.

The selection of CPL was carried out by SCDC in partnership with the Housing Corporation (now known as the Homes & Communities Agency), Cambridge City Council, land owners/developers, English Partnerships and Cambridgeshire Horizons.

Work on new homes is set to start in 2008/09 in Northstowe, 2009/10 at the Cambridge Southern Fringe and 2010/11 at North West Cambridge.
