Northstowe and other Strategic Growth Sites

Affordable homes will be a key part of South Cambridgeshire's new major developments at Northstowe, the Cambridge Southern Fringe and North West Cambridge. (For further information on the major sites - visit the new developments page on the planning site)

SCDC are pleased to be working with Cambridgeshire Partnerships Ltd (CPL) as the Councils preferred Affordable Housing Provider. Cambridgeshire Partnerships Ltd (CPL) is made up of five housing associations already working in South Cambridgeshire and Cambridge City - Bedfordshire Pilgrims Housing Association, Aldwyck Housing Association, King Street Housing Society, The Papworth Trust and Hundred Houses Society.

The Cambridge Southern Fringe is made up of several developments - Trumpington Meadows, Clay Farm, Glebe Farm and Bell School. The majority of the Southern Fringe sites have out line planning consent, with Glebe Farm having a full planning permission. Some of the sites at Clay Farm and Trumpington Meadows now have reserved matters approval from planning and once all the drainage and ground works have been completed house building will begin early 2012. 40% of the new homes on these sites will be Affordable Housing, with a mixture of different tenure options.

Northstowe - Discussions with the Joint Promoters Gallagher Estates and the Homes and Communities Agency are well underway, although it will been still be some time before we see any housing being delivered at Northstowe, which will have roughly a 25 yr build out period.

North West Cambridge - NIAB 1, this site has outline planning consent for 1500 new homes with 40% of the new homes being affordable, again with a mixture of tenure options.
