Lifeline - Help when you need it most

Lifeline

People across South Cambridgeshire are able to remain living independently in their own homes thanks to technology provided through South Cambridgeshire District (SCDC) and Cambridgeshire Primary Care Trust.

Technology such as Community Lifeline and fall detectors provides reassurance and peace of mind for vulnerable people and their relatives and carers, allowing help to be summoned at the touch of a button and without the need to reach a telephone. A wide range of equipment, from door exit sensors to chair and bed absence monitors is available, allowing people to feel safe and secure in their home.

A Lifeline unit allows people to alert friends or family immediately in an emergency. Lifeline offers a pendant, which can be worn around the neck or on the wrist. When pressed, the red button on the pendant connects directly to a call centre which will contact family, friends or emergency services.

Fall detectors are small self-activating devices worn around the waist. If the wearer falls, the detector automatically alerts the call centre.
