Lifeline - Help when it is needed the most...

People living in the South Cambridgeshire area are able to receive support, which can allow them to remain living independently in their own homes thanks to technology provided through South Cambridgeshire District Council (SCDC) and Cambridge Community Services, regardless of their age and the type of accommodation that they live in.

The Community Lifeline provides reassurance and peace of mind for vulnerable people (those who have health issues, learning difficulties or who may feel in need of extra security due to their domestic situation) and also gives family and carers support in knowing that help can be summoned at the touch of a button, without the need to reach a telephone. All that is required to enable this service to be used is a residential telephone line, which will be shared by the Lifeline equipment. Friends and family can be alerted in an emergency by the wearer pressing the button on the pendant provided - a message will be conveyed to named contacts by our 24-hour service centre. There is other technology available for support and assistance, such as fall detectors and door monitors, which can be used in conjunction with a Community Lifeline. There is a weekly charge for this service.

A service list by village, a normal charge application form and a reduced charge application form are available on line or can be obtained from the Community Lifeline Service at South Cambridgeshire District Council.
