The new local housing association would be run by a 15-strong voluntary Board of management. The Board has been established in 'shadow' form to help develop the new local housing association for South Cambridgeshire. The Shadow Board members will help the Council shape the details of the transfer proposal and the new association's principles and key policies, including on tenant involvement and participation.

The Shadow Board will be made up of five tenants, five Council nominees and five independent members, chosen for their particular skills and experience.

The Shadow Board members are:

  • Richard Barrett
  • Nigel Bolitho
  • Adam Broadway
  • Dave Champion
  • Wendy Head (Vice Chair)
  • Liz Heazell
  • Raith Overhill (Chair)
  • Ian Sparks
  • Joan Spencer
  • Peter Topping
  • Jim Watson
  • Liz Wicken
  • Colin Oakman

The Shadow Board are in the process of 'recruiting' the final independent member.

One of the first decisions the Shadow Board made was around the identity for the new, stand alone local housing association. The name, South Cambridgeshire Village Homes was chosen from ideas submitted by both tenants and staff. The final choice of name took into account the need to ensure that it was one that could represent the whole of the district, and not one area or location, a name that tenants and staff could identify with and reflects the social objectives of the new housing association.

The inspiration for the logo was that it would work with the name to visually represent the nature of the district of South Cambridgeshire and the type of new local housing association to be created. It was also important that the logo would be one that tenants would feel comfortable with
