Waste prevention

Cutting down on direct mail
Waste generated by direct mail has almost doubled in the last ten years. Last year 3.3 billion items of unaddressed mail was delivered via Royal Mail alone - an increase of 12.5% on last year. A potential 78,000 tonnes of mail ended up in landfill sites.
In South Cambridgeshire nearly 9,000 households have already stopped receiving unwanted addressed mail by registering with the Mailing Preference Service (MPS).
