Collection Criteria

• Bin must be left at edge of the property nearest to the road, or at an agreed collection point, by 7am on the day of collection.
• Bin lids must be firmly closed - even bins with partially open lids can not be collected.
• All waste to be collected must be inside the bins - side waste will not be collected under any circumstances.*

* This is because the new vehicles are fitted with bin lifting equipment and have a much higher back than the old vehicles. It is unsafe for refuse collectors to repeatedly lift rubbish over the high back. In addition, we believe this policy will encourage everyone to not only recycle more but to try to minimise the amount of waste produced in the first place.

If the refuse vehicle cannot get to your particular property you will be contacted individually by the Council to advise you of an alternative collection point.

Missed Collections

If you have met all the above criteria and feel that the Council has made a mistake in missing your collection, please report this to the Refuse and Recycling Line 08450 450 063 open from Monday to Saturday 8am to 8pm. The council will collect any missed bin, that meets the collection criteria, provided the report is received by the council by 3:30pm of the day after the original collection was scheduled to take place.

What to do if you have not been able to meet the criteria?

• Take the waste to your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre (Milton or Thriplow)
• You may re-present your waste at the time of your next scheduled collection but please remember only waste contained in your wheeled bin will be removed.
