Join the SPEP

Put SPEP on your next parish council meeting agenda

Whether or not you are a parish councillor or resident you can request that the parish council joins the partnership.

Ask to have "consideration of signing-up to the South Cambs Sustainable Parish Energy Partnership" put on the agenda for the next Parish Council meeting. If your parish council has specific questions regarding the Sustainable Parish Energy Partnership, they can email questions to sustainability@scambs.gov.uk (This link will open in a new window). Also, a representative of the District Council can be requested to attend to answer any questions or offer additional information.

Nominate a Parish Councillor Champion

Once the Parish Council has agreed to join the partnership, we ask them to make a commitment by including the decision in the Parish Council meeting minutes and agreeing to work closely with the District Council, and recognised related interest groups, on bringing forward and delivering energy conservation and efficiency measures.

Parish Councils are also asked to agree a 'sustainable energy' or parish councillor 'champion' to take forward sustainable energy issues forward on behalf of the parish council

Form a working group

You may be joining the SPEP because you already have an environmental group set up in your parish, which means you are in a good position to strengthen what you are already doing through SPEP activities.

If you don't have a group set up or any groups interested in collaborating with the Parish Council and the District Council on energy conservation and efficiency, it is a good idea for the Parish Council Champion, other Parish Councillors or enthusiastic residents to establish a working group.

Notify the SPEP Team

Once you have decided to join, please contact the team via email sustainability@scambs.gov.uk (This link will open in a new window) and we can get going on planning what you want to do within your community!
