Whittlesford

Whittlesford signed up to the SPEP in April 2010. A group of local volunteers, who came forward to take on the co-ordination of SPEP activities in Whittlesford, formed the Sustainable Whittlesford (This link will open in a new window) group. The group goes beyond the core energy focus of the SPEP, into all other aspects of life.

They are a group of people with a common understanding that the way we live is inherently unsustainable and far more fragile them people realise. Their goal is to gain a better understanding of these concerns and to help each other to find more sustainable, resilient and equitable alternatives.

Exploring ideas and practical initiatives for re-localisation and sustainable living are prime concerns so if you think you might be interested, please get in touch with the Sustainable Whittlesford group.

Look out for the varied programme of films that are part of their 'Essential Viewing Film Season'.

Sustainable Whittlesford would like to introduce WiLF! The Whittlesford Local Food Directory connects local producers of all sizes with local customers, whether you are lookin to sell, swap or just give it away. Tell them about your surplus of local produce and they will advertise it on the regularly updated village notice, email bulletin and on the Sustainable Whittlesford website. This service is free! The goal is to reduce food waste and food miles. Sustainable Whittlesfor want to make it easier for people to eat locally produced fresh seasonal food. Eating local produce reduces food miles and eliminates a staggering amount of supply chain food waste. Why ship food half way around the World when we have already grown it here?
