Our Partners
- South Cambridgeshire's Environment Group
Help address the issues and monitor the progress of the Community Strategy, which contains a series of actions to help improve the quality of life across the district and that tackle climate change.
- Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Climate Change Network
A cross-sectoral partnership providing support to public and private sector organisations as well as local communities seeking to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
- South Cambridgeshire Strategic Partnership
The South Cambridgeshire Strategic Partnership (or LSP: Local Strategic Partnership) is a partnership between the council and various partners to work together towards achieving economic, environmental and social standards for the district.
Gamlingay
Gamlingay joined the SPEP in 2009. SPEP activities are supported by Gamlingay Parish Council and by an independent organisation, the Gamlingay Environmental Action Group (This link will open in a new window) (GEAG). Between them, they are responsible for organising a range of activities in the village aimed at raising awareness of environmental issues and encouraging villagers to make sustainable changes to their lifestyles.
GEAG and the Parish Council are also exploring several other ways to cut the village's carbon footprint. We are working with Sustrans, the sustainable transport charity, to implement an off-road cycle path linking the village with nearby Potton and Sandy. The village is developing an 'eco-hub' community centre which as well as being a highly energy-efficient building will showcase low-energy solutions for the village's households. And GEAG is working to produce a range of literature and exhibitions that will offer positive advice on energy-efficient living.
