Planning Duty Officer
The Planning Service operates a Duty Officer system between the hours of 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, enabling us to answer your general planning queries. This service is provided by a Planning Officer and is available by:
- Telephone 01954 713155 or by
- Visiting our Cambourne office.
Enquiries should be kept to general planning queries and take up no more than 15-20 minutes.
The Duty Officer will not be able to advise on specific site enquiries as this will be dealt with by the Planning Officer dealing with your application. However, they can provide you with general advice on how best to proceed.
The Duty Officer system will provide you with:
- General advice on planning queries
- General advice on householder development proposals for applicants or neighbours
- Assessment of permitted development, advising on procedures and process
- Answers to technical planning questions
- Completion of application forms
- Fee charges
- Interpretation of plans and drawings
- Validity of applications delivered at Reception desk
If you wish to know about the progress of a particular application, please continue to contact the specific Planning Officer to arrange an appointment. Alternatively, you can identify key information regarding the application status, timescales, consultations and decisions from our online planning application database (This link will open in a new window).
At South Cambridgeshire District Council, we aim to provide our customers with a service that is beneficial and rewarding. The Duty Officer system will work on a rota basis, ensuring day to day workloads are not disrupted. Other Planning Officers will then be able to continue working on planning applications, appeals, daily correspondence and other planning related matters.
