Submitting a search application

Please note that search applications must include the following in order to be accepted for processing:

A correct and clear address to be searched against
The correct fee (please see fee scales)
2 copies of the LLC1 form
2 copies of the CON29R form
4 copies of an up to date site or property location plan (relevant parcel of land or property that you require information on must be edged in red) unless a plan has already been deposited with the council by the developers in respect of new developments or unless the property is a Council property.

Extra Parcels of Land

Please consult the Directions and Notes on the reverse of the LLC1; however if you are in doubt as to the cost of a search, which includes extra parcels, please contact us direct.

We will be reviewing our fees in due course following the implementation of the Charges for Property Search Services, which is currently at the consultation stage. For more information visit the Department for Communities and Local Government website (This link will open in a new window).

Please make your cheque payable to South Cambridgeshire District Council.

The appropriate fee must accompany searches. If the initial payment is insufficient, or incorrect we will return the search.

The Council does not provide copies of the LLC1 or CON29 forms, but they are available for purchase from law stationers as paper or on-line versions.

Land ownership details and copies of ordnance survey extracts can be obtained by contacting the Peterborough Land Registry (This link will open in a new window).

We are currently connected to National Land Information Service (NLIS) level 2 and are able to receive searches electronically. Visit NLIS (This link will open in a new window) and select "How to buy" to see details of channel providers with which you can register..

Drainage Enquiries

As the statutory sewerage undertaker, Anglian Water Services Ltd. holds the sewer maps as a statutory register.
You can process an online request using the Anglian Water Geodesys (This link will open in a new window) website.

Photocopying Document Fees

Copies of Planning Decisions are now available on our Website: www.scambs.gov.uk (This link will open in a new window)

If copies are requested from Land Charges the following fees apply and are payable in advance:

For copy documents required as a result of a Personal Search, full details of the register entry are required. For copy planning decisions the planning decision number and the decision date is required.

Cancellation of Searches

Should you wish to cancel your request for a search the following refund policy applies:

There are four departments involved in completing searches.

If 1 department has completed the search responses - Full refund
If 2 departments have completed the search responses - Half of the original search cost
If 3 departments have completed their responses - No refund

Duplicate Copy of a Search - Half of the original Cost is charged.
