Personal Searches
The Council has a statutory duty to make the Local Land Charges Register available in order to facilitate a Personal Search, for which the statutory fee of £22.00 applies. The Council also has a duty to provide access to all property information it may hold to enable a third party to answer CON29 enquiries.
From 6th April 2009 for arrangements and charges relating to access to public registers and property information held by the Council, please refer to Schedule of Registers/Information for Local Enquiries search. Please note that the charges took effect on 17th April 2009.
For access to the Local Land Charges Register
Monday to Friday - 10.00 am, 11.00 am and 2.00 pm by appointment only.
You have a choice of:
- A maximum of 6 searches (with no time limit imposed)
- Half an hour slot - no limit to the number of searches carried out. (This time limit includes planning and land charges)
Whilst we appreciate that delays may occur when travelling, we would be grateful if you could adhere to your appointment slot.

For Highways Queries please contact Cambridgeshire County Council on 0845 045 5200.
These arrangements will be reviewed regularly.
Any queries regarding the content of a Personal Search will be directed back to the Personal Search Agency or person who carried out the search.
Informative; The Council is aware of the guidance document issued by the Information Commissioner's Office on charging for property searches and the Environmental Information Regulations. The Council is not obliged to follow the guidance of the ICO on this issue, as it is not statutory, and we have chosen not to follow this guidance at this time pending legal opinion which the LGA is seeking on behalf of the sector.
Whilst we seek legal advice, property search information will of course remain available to search companies under our existing access and charging regime under the Local Authorities (England) (Charges for Property Searches) Regulations 2008.
